NEXT: The Future Of Tees
We’re really proud to be part of a huge event that represents the past, present and future of T-shirt design. Big thanks to Eddie Zammit, the obsessed, creative mind behind T-world and co-producer of NEXT, for inviting us to exhibit. He’s salt of the earth, probably knows more about T-shirts and T-shirt culture than anyone else on the planet and he’s a big fan of 2SB.
“For over 30 years, street culture – encompassing graffiti, design, skate, streetwear and urban inspired – has changed the way we see the graphic T-shirt. This exhibit celebrates the street art category using the T-shirt as its most accessible canvas. The display is both retrospective and responsive to the question, what is NEXT?”
Since November 4, 1000’s of people have been visiting Cockatoo Island (in the middle of Sydney Harbour) for the Outpost Project – Australia’s biggest international street art festival. NEXT, produced by T-world and aMBUSH Gallery, is one of the major exhibitions there and probably the largest T-shirt exhibition in history.
With over 1500 individual T-shirts on display, it features more than 100 of the world’s leading T-shirt labels, including Addict, Alife, Freshjive, Fuct, The Hundreds, Lazy Oaf, Mambo, Mishka, PAM, Rebel 8, Rockwell, Schwipe, Sixpack, SSUR, Stussy, Supreme, Upper Playground, Volcom, WeSC, Zoo York and… 2SICKBASTARDS.
As you can see from Nicole Reed’s photos below, it’s an impressive looking show. We only wish we could’ve made it down under to see it for ourselves. If you’re heading that way or, lucky for you, are already there, then go check it out. It’s on until December 11. Massive congrats to Eddie and aMBUSH for making it a success…
